Program Learning Outcomes (Qualifications)
A graduate of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Dentistry;
P.Y.1- Has the competence to integrate basic and clinical dentistry theoretical knowledge into clinical applications, defines the structure and functions of the mouth, jaw, teeth, and all oral tissues on the basis of cells, tissues, organs, and systems.
P.Y.2 - In the patient diagnosis and treatment planning process, performs professional practices equipped with basic medical knowledge and competently, makes decisions using critical thinking skills to solve problems related to the mouth and surrounding tissues.
P.Y.3 - Has the basic and current knowledge required by the dentistry profession, follows academic resources at national and international levels related to dentistry throughout their professional life, and evaluates research results.
- P.Y.4. In individual dentistry practices, prioritizes the protection and improvement of health, takes responsibility at the societal level in the protection and improvement of oral and dental health, evaluates ideas related to health policy within the framework of ethical and quality processes.
- P.Y.5. Evaluates the symptoms of patients' medical conditions, laboratory results, and drug interactions, knows the treatment methods of various systemic diseases and related oral and dental diseases, and applies the necessary precautions in such situations.
P.Y.6. Knows the rules of medical ethics, communicates with patients, their relatives, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals within the framework of social, scientific, and ethical values, conducts diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatments considering ethical and legal responsibilities.
- P.Y.7. Has knowledge and equipment regarding the health, safety, patient safety, and risks of all employees in the clinical environment, makes a disaster plan in institution management, applies infection control instructions, and takes necessary precautions.
- P.Y.8. Uses information technologies in managerial and clinical processes, uses information technologies in the acquisition, storage, and use of patient records.
P.Y.9. Takes a detailed medical and dental history of the patient for diagnosis and treatment planning, conducts clinical and radiographic examinations.
P.Y.10. Uses auxiliary diagnostic methods when necessary, evaluates findings, and requests consultation when needed, and refers the patient to a specialist physician.
P.Y.11. Considers the patient's general health condition in treatment planning, plans oral and dental care for all groups, including different age groups, risk groups, forensic cases, and patients with special needs.
